The folks here are so friendly and accommodating. Just loved my PA-C Amanda and her assistants. The receptionist was also super nice. Highly recommend

My husband had an appointment at Coastal ENT for an ear-related issue and had a good experience overall. At his appointment, they mentioned they offer allergy treatments. I had been considering allergy injections for some time, so I scheduled an initial appointment. I was really disappointed with the appointment on several levels and have since found a far superior allergy treatment provider in Pooler. 1) I spent 45 minutes prior to my appointment filling out intake information online. When I arrived at my appointment, the receptionist gave me a stack of papers to fill out. I told her I already filled out a bunch of information on their portal. She removed a couple of papers that she said were duplicates but I still needed to fill out the rest. One form asked how I was feeling that day which was understandable to complete at that time, but the others covered information I had already filled out online. 2) They charge a 3% finance charge for credit and debit cards. I have never experienced this at a doctor's office. I have a flexible spending card and I told the receptionist I was concerned that finance charges are not eligible FSA expenses and that the charge would get flagged. The receptionist checked with someone who said it should be fine. I told her I was very concerned the expense would get flagged and I'd have to waste time dealing with the charge simply because they were adding a 3% fee. As it turns out, finance charges *are not* FSA eligible and I now need an itemized receipt to get partial reimbursement though my FSA provider. I have called, left messages, and sent text messages through the patient portal to Coastal ENT multiple times to request an itemized receipt and have not heard back from them. I have probably wasted an hour just trying to get a receipt from them. I will likely have to make a special trip to their office to get an itemized receipt. 3) When I went into the exam room, two medical techs asked me a series of questions about why I was there and my past history with allergies. I had already covered all of this in detail in my intake forms, but they were kind and professional. When the Nurse Practitioner came in, she asked me the same series of questions almost verbatim. She then provided some general information about allergy treatment options and then asked if I had any questions. The NP was kind, but I think she could have done a much more thorough job explaining options to me. As a patient, you don’t always know what questions to ask. She maybe spent 20 minutes with me. When I looked at my insurance statement for the appointment, it was billed as a 45 minute “first office visit with a doctor.” 4) Also, during my appointment, another staff member randomly walked into the room without knocking which was really disconcerting. After my less-than-ideal experience at the Coastal ENT, I looked more carefully at their website and realized the main doctor (who I did not even see) is not a board-certified allergist. They did inform me that I’d have to go to a Savannah location to do the allergy testing, so presumably that person is board certified. At that point, I decided to find a board-certified allergist in Pooler and fortunately found Dr. Kharod at Prime Care of Georgia. The experience there was a breath of fresh air compared to what I experienced at Coastal ENT. During our first visit, Dr. Kharod herself spent 45 minutes talking to me and educating me about allergies and treatment options. It was clear that she had already reviewed my intake forms while speaking with me. When I call her office, someone always answers the phone which was not my experience with Coastal ENT. Also, the clinic doesn't charge a finance fee for credit/debit cards so my FSA card charges always go through without an issue. In summary, Coastal ENT may be an okay (albeit inefficient) clinic for non-allergy related ENT issues, but I recommend going elsewhere for allergy treatment. *Edit: Someone finally emailed me my receipt after I called for the fourth time.
Dr. Oliver is fist rate and immensely knowledgeable. The staff was polite and friendly. My wait was a bit long as I spent most of the afternoon there, but eorth the time. The audiololgist and her equipment were not quite as high quality, but overall a fine experience. Many thanks.
