Dr. Ruben Rodriguez is everything you hope for when your child needs surgery: exceptionally skilled, calm under pressure, compassionate, and unwaveringly professional. From our very first interaction, he inspired confidence. He has a rare ability to take a frightening and overwhelming situation and make you feel that your child is in exactly the right hands. Throughout our daughter’s care, he was consistently present, attentive, and reassuring. What impressed me most was his judgment and leadership. As a worried parent, emotions can cloud decision-making, and there were times when I needed someone to tell me not what I wanted to hear, but what I needed to hear. Dr. Rodriguez did exactly that. He approached every conversation with kindness, patience, and confidence, while always keeping my daughter’s best interests at the center of every decision. His bedside manner is exceptional. He is warm and approachable, yet composed and authoritative when it matters. He brings a level of professionalism that immediately earns trust, and he has a gift for guiding anxious families through difficult situations with clarity and grace. Most importantly, the outcome for our daughter was excellent. Watching her recover so smoothly reinforced what we already knew: she was cared for by an outstanding surgeon. Texas Children’s Hospital is fortunate to have physicians like Dr. Rodriguez. He represents the very best of pediatric surgery. Not only because of his technical expertise, but because of the way he cares for children and supports families during some of their most stressful moments. We will always be grateful for the care he provided our daughter.

We have used this location as well as downtown and Katy. We have always had remarkable doctors and nurses. Unfortunately, our last visit in March 2026,was very difficult for our family. We lost our son. Dr Pymento and his staff in critical care made us as comfortable as possible. Even when they knew our son didn't make it,they didn't rush us. We were given all the time we needed. We appreciate every person in the ER and every person that helped us here. This was the absolute worst day of our lives, but we know they did everything in their power for us and for our son. 🙏🏻

I brought my daughter in here because I wanted to find out the source of her vomiting. I had took her to another emergency room the night turned into morning prior in another state and they thought possible stomach bug but there wasn't time for testing. So I brought her here when we got back to Texas, they ran tests and said that her white blood cells were off showing possible infection but they wouldn't know until the labs came back. I told them I thought possible UTI because her urine smelled and she previously had a yeast infection. They administered her first dose of antibiotics and said they would give me a call back within 48 hours once the labs came back to either stop or continue the antibiotics. The antibiotics they ordered ended up being $200 not covered by my insurance, a difficult and rare antibiotic. I called the next day and asked if labs were back they said no it takes time and once they got them they would be uploaded to my chart. I called again and was told the same thing. I continued the entire 7 week dose of antibiotics. I finally got a hold of someone on day 7 and was told that she ended up not needing the antibiotic at all and she came back negative for a UTI!!!! So I gave her $200 antibiotics for NO reason at all. No one called. Nothing was ever uploaded to my chart. There were NO notes to call me back. They said someone should have called. Texas children you dropped the ball big time on us. They also sent us a $2,000 bill for services. They did ultrasound for appendicitis BEFORE testing UTI or stomach bug even though she didn't have pain in areas for appendicitis and I told them the previous ER said they didn't think it was appendicitis because of the areas of pain and her level of pain. Not to mention our wait time was over 8 hours and we got lost in the shift change. I will be filing a formal complaint because it is unacceptable that I administered an antibiotic unnecessarily to my daughter.

I had the most traumatic experience ever with son on 6/30/24! And God used Texas Children Hospital to save my boy !!! My son needed a brain operation and was transported to Legacy Tower. And from there we moved to West Tower. My son got there save, on time, and surgery went well. I am for ever thankful for this hospital and for everyone who took care of my son. We stayed at the hospital for a whole month and two weeks and they made sure we felt comfortable in every way. sorry that not everyone received the best experience as I’m reading the reviews! I pray for EVERY child to receive the best medical treatment they deserve! I pray may God use the hands of the whole medical team to heal. My son is now doing OT and has came a long way!!! I’m just so so thankful !!! All Glory to God ! This hospital provides a lot!!

Well the smoking section is right next to the walk way for where a critical injured person is rolled down to the helicopter. I was having a smoke and they rolled out an injured patient down a path where I was 12 feet away with the wind blowing in their direction. Very poor placement..
