I was a previous patient of Dr. Wellington, but this location is no longer the same. My eye exam felt rushed and was one of the fastest I’ve ever had. I was given sample contacts that didn’t include astigmatism correction, even though I’ve had astigmatism before. When I asked about it, I was told I “probably didn’t have enough” to need those lenses. After wearing the samples for a week, my vision was not clear or sharp, especially at a distance. At my follow-up, I explained that I couldn’t see well and that everything looked blurry. Although I could read the chart, it was not clear. When I asked to adjust my prescription, the doctor said the only option was to give me my old prescription from December 2024 and would not make any changes. I was even asked to sign a form stating I was okay with the prescription he provided. In the end, the original prescription he gave me was actually weaker than what I had over a year ago. I had to go to another eye doctor and pay again, but thankfully they were able to properly correct my vision. Very disappointing experience.

The only reason I went here was because even though Dr. Wellington had closed down his practice here I wanted to give them a chance. If I could give them Zero stars I would. The fastest eye exam I have ever had. I took the prescription to another place and had my eyes re-examined and they said that the prescription was off.

Dr Wellington is gone and it shows. By far the most difficult office I have ever been to. $165 for an eye exam. I told them the brand of contacts I usually wear (been wearing contacts for 40 years now) They suggest a brand instead and give me a pair to try out I never used before. They didn't sit on my eye as well as my normal brand so when I ordered my contacts on 1800 contacts and selected my original brand; they never showed up. I called and 1800 contacts informed me the eye doctor wouldn't approve the brand I chose and canceled my order. No follow up call to me inform me or anything. Then if I want to get the brand I want, I would have to come in for a follow up visit and do a trial fitting with this brand. The brand I have been wearing for the past 15 years or so. What a hassle. They probably get a kickback from the contact supplier to promote this particular brand and then make it a pain to get the brand I told them I have been wearing for 15+ years. Won't be back.

I've been coming to see Dr. Wellington for years and love him and his staff. I have always had a complete exam with dilation as part of the yearly follow-up requirements for my lifetime Lasik warranty from Lasik Vision Institute (LVI). Every year he tells me how great my eyes are doing based on his testing results. This year I made an appointment and was told that Dr Wellington wasn't practicing anymore and that I would see the physician who had replaced him. When I arrived at the appointment the receptionist/tech started telling me I needed all sorts of extra tests with my usual exam. This was before my exam had even started and none of these extra tests were going to be covered by my insurance. I told her all I needed was the complete exam with dilation I had every year, and that if those results were abnormal I would return to my Surgeon at LVI, who would, most likely, perform all of these other tests (and then insurance would cover it). The tech was adamant that the new doctor would want a "baseline" for me and would require these other tests. She continued to argue with me and then dropped the bomb that all of these other tests would cost me about $300. I knew, then, that she wasn't stopping until I agreed to her "prescribing" these extra tests. I told her I was going to find a new optometrist and left the office. I don't even know who the new physician in this office is, as the doctor's name was not even on the business cards. It felt like someone in that office was getting a kickback or bonus for every add-on the patient agreed to. While I think additional testing is important if a basic test is abnormal I also know that most physicians act in the best interest of the patient by ordering a basic test first to see if additional testing is even needed. This office has my previous history and could see that all of my previous years exams were normal. I can't think of any reason I would suddenly need so many unnecessary tests without being seen by the physician first.

I have never missed Dr. Wellington more than today. I pray he comes back once he’s better because this new team was not it. More expensive out of pocket, I didn’t see a doctor, I saw an OA, I also had to ask for my pair of contacts I paid to be fitted for. My exam seemed rushed, didn’t do the usual “better 1 or 2”, just kind of said this is really blurry?? Now it’s clear? Ok, your prescription seems the same. He then stressed about not being able to find my old prescription so he could copy it over. But if it didn’t change how did this OA know what my prescription was? I had to fish my old prescription from Dr. Wellington out of my wallet so he could copy it onto a new one. After being told I was done, he walked me up front, without my new contacts. I inquired about it and he said “oh the brand you prefer isn’t in stock. I guess I’ll give you a similar one if you want”. Dr. Wellington always fitted me, then brought me back into the exam room to make sure everything was okay. Did not get that level of service with the new management. If Dr. Wellington isn’t back when I’m due for my next appointment I’ll have to go elsewhere. I wouldn’t recommend this office to anyone anymore.
