Total Vision PC - Carlsbad

Dr. Daniel is amazing!! My son, with autism, has seen her twice for an assessment through school. She has the most calm and loving demeanor, along with complete belief in my son's abilities. He happily did all the exercises and really enjoyed the time with her. She is absolutely wonderful - both in terms of her knowledge and also how she approaches patients. Additionally, the office staff is incredible. We had a last minute issue with the authorization for the appointment, and they were able to resolve this. I'm very grateful for Dr. Daniel and her entire team!

1/2 star if that. Dr. Coffey provided a prescription that was invalid, I had lenses made for a pair of glasses I had purchased from them in 2022. I was not able to read signs while driving. Dr. Coffey wanted charge me for another eye exam before fixing the glasses. The prescription she wrote in 2022 was 20/20. I asked that the lenses be remade to my previous prescription. I went to pick up today and the glasses were made with the 2025 prescription. Their optometrist said they would use the 2022 prescription which they didn't. Today's optometrist said they cannot use an expired prescription, even if it is from Dr. Coffey, why didn't their optometrist tell me this when they said they were going to remake them. I strongly do not recommend this business. I think it is common practice to charge twice for eye exam and their lab cannot make lenses correctly. No refund out $500 just for lenses and this is with VSP. 2022 paid $800 for frames and lenses... way over priced for bad service. I filed a complaint with VSP and learned Total Vision is NOT in VSP network since 2024. The optometrist portion inside their lobby is also not within VSP network which both failed to mention to me. These businesses do not inform long time Daniel & Davis patients of this change and allow us to assume they are but they bill VSP as out of network.

Beware shady billing! Took our daughter here for evaluation for prism glasses after office confirmed they do this. When we got to her appointment, the practitioner told us they do not prescribe prism glasses and instead pushed for their vision therapy program. We did not agree to this in the signed Advanced Beneficiary Notice where we indicated procedures/exams we consented to. Then we get a bill with $415 tacked on for vision therapy assessment. They pressured us in-person to pay this at the end of the appointment. Office has ignored emails to resolve this. Willing to remove review when this is resolved.

I called to pay for two boxes of contacts and they said since my RX expires in 2 months I had to come in now for full on exam and pay out of pocket for that because my insurance wont pay for it until May just to order any contacts now. Mind you my RX is still VALID for 3 months! I just called 800 contacts and bought them there instead. Make it make sense? The Doctor is however amazing. He is very nice and a good doctor. Just a bad policy maybe created by the office manager?

Dr Davis is a great. I have been seeing him for over 10+ years. Since partnering with Total vision the current staff has been less than accommodating, unprofessional 1/2 a star at best. You are just considered a number. Lastly the when choosing your frames the next nightmare begins, they UP SELL you to the max ,even though you have a great insurance, they find ways to pressure you towards a higher price frames and extras. The frustrating part is that I already mentioned that I would like to stay within the budget of my insurance plan, they still push to get extras. Dr. Davis, please hire more courteous personnel on both areas in mentioned above.
