I was roomed on time, the person performing my testing was excellent. Dr. Winkler was easy to talk to, open to questions and thorough. The front desk person was very efficient, professional and friendly. I would highly recommend this office team.
Dr. Nelson Winkler did cataract surgery on my eye 3/24/2026 without adequate medication (which I had requested). I was totally aware as he inserted a device to keep my eye open, and I asked for medication. He said "No." I was totally aware as he cut into my eye, and I asked for medication. He said, "No. Enjoy the light show." As he continued to operate I was totally aware of everything he was doing to my eye, and in tremendous pain. I asked again for medication and he responded, "No. People tell me there is a beautiful flash of light as I put in the new lens, which I'm doing now". Still no medication. With pain at 9/10, I asked again for medication and he said, "No. It will only be a few more minutes". I have filed complaints with Bell Hospital, The Joint Commission (which accredits Bell Hospital), and Michigan Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. If the experience sounds horrible, rest assured it was. And the only word that describes Nelson Winkler's conduct is "flippant". Total disregard for my well being during surgery.
Dr Winkler and staff are awesome I have been seeing him every 7 weeks for the last two years. Every visit has been very positive
Each time I have been to the office, Dr Winkler and all the staff have been professional and friendly. I have not had to wait for any extended time as they were very punctual and valued my time also. Dr Winkler explained in words I could understand. Definitely recommend.
As always, the staff was pleasant and knowledgeable. Dr. Winkler takes the time to answer all questions.
