It was winter of 2021 when my husband fell In the Texas ice. We took him to a local ER who mismanaged his case. After much homework I knew that we may need the help of the neurosurgery department at UT Southwestern. In stead of getting better, he declined. I rushed him to UT and within hours he was in surgery with Dr Garzon, Neurosurgery. His work and the if the ICU team was outstanding. The acute rehab that followed was too short and medium at best. But the team turned our lives around. Neurosurgeon must be confident and they were and I am forever grateful. We hoped to build our entire healthcare team with UT. But UT has a problem that they need to look at long and hard. They can’t keep talented doctors. Bring a teaching hospital I understand resident turnover. But there are far too many solid docs that leave. From GYN, physiatrist, neuro, spine docs. Suggest looking deeper into employee morale, culture, how people are treated and leadership. Something is missing and we need you to be better.

The staff are very friendly from floor to floor. The building is well kept. Here are some pics. Valet is $10 self is $5. I didn't give it a 5 because specifically with mychart app, the staff didn't know how to navigate it and she said she is very savvy. It's not her or myself, it's the app.
I’ve had a mixed experience with the vascular team at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The staff is efficient and gets the job done, but overall the atmosphere feels more businesslike than patient-focused. Interactions tend to be brief and transactional, which doesn’t always create a comforting or personal experience—it can feel a bit like a cattle call at times. Not necessarily negative, but it does leave something to be desired in terms of bedside support and relationship-building. That said, Dr. Siah is an excellent physician. I have nothing negative to say about his care or bedside manner—he’s knowledgeable, attentive, and clearly committed to his patients. The biggest challenge is availability. With such limited clinic hours (less than four hours, one day a week), it’s extremely difficult to get timely appointments. When you’re dealing with ongoing vascular issues, being told the next available visit is three weeks out is frustrating. It’s also challenging that multiple concerns can’t be addressed in a single visit due to scheduling constraints. I understand that demand is high and that I’m not the only patient needing care, but access is a real issue. If the current schedule can’t support the patient load, it may be worth reconsidering how many patients are being taken on. Overall, this experience lands at 3 stars—great physician care, but limited access and a less-than-warm staff experience make it hard to rate higher.
No hospital is perfect but this is the best hospital I’ve been to in DFW and a complete opposite of Medical City Plano which was a terrible experience. At UTSW if I needed a nurse they were in my room within 5 minutes of me pressing the red button, where at Medical City Plano it took 2 hours at times to get attention. The doctors at UTSW came in everyday and stayed 10-30 minutes in my room assessing my progress after my procedure and refused to discharge me until I was able to hold down calories. At the last hospital, they discharged me despite me not being able to eat or drink which made me mad. I also only saw the doctor one time after my surgery at Medical City Plano. At UTSW, my room literally looked like a hotel and the nurses and doctors were EXTRMELY knowledgeable and allowed me to give my own input. Nothing but great things to say about this hospital. I also had multiple specialists in and out of my room each day helping me with different problems and they let me discharge on my own terms!
Went here for a family member's persistent high fever. Knowing UTSW would bring access to a breadth and depth of medical expertise was important to me and ultimately made a big difference in getting the correct diagnosis and treatment that led to recovery. Getting access to top-tier experts across a wide range of fields was critical when dealing with an illness with an unknown origin. I was thoroughly impressed with the level and quality of care received and would choose UTSW again without hesitation.
