This hospital is a disgrace. In 2018 I had my daughter here, it was Bay Area hospital then. I had such an amazing experience. The staff actually cared for the patients. Now there is no feeling of care or priority when it comes to care. My husband was in a car accident last night and he was admitted into the ER with broken neck and 3 broken vertebrae. I called the hospital and they said he was not a patient but he had been there for over 3 hours. They had his name and information. The female administrator with brown hair and black glasses was so rude and abrasive. The state of his hospital room was the definition of filth. My husbands blood and urine samples were left on the counter unattended for over 6 hours. When I brought this to the administration I was threatened. I was told I would be kicked out for disrespecting staff when in fact the staff/administration actively disrespected my husband and did not treat him like a human. He was dosed up with fentanyl and had no way to advocate for himself. They left him naked with no gown or socks. It was a minimum of 5 hours before we had any word from a real doctor. The nursing staff was nonexistent. The only nurse that showed true care and live for her patients was Blanca. She deserves to be commended. i can not imagine working in an environment that is thriving on neglect. She is absolutely amazing and it’s so wonderful to see someone truly care when no one else does. I’m not sure what’s going on in this institution but the word “disgrace” is a polite way to describe it. Something needs to change immediately. Understaffed, malpractice, lack of care, neglect etc. all of these words are the epitome of this place. If you have a choice do not trust this place with your loved ones. They deserve so much better. It took almost 14 hours for them to do an mri for my husband and his back is broken in 3 places! He could have died in his room and no one would have known for hours. Close this hospital or fix it. DO BETTER!

The emergency room nurse practitioner that saw me was really nice, but didn’t have a clue what was wrong with me and couldn’t make a decision to get doctors involved. Once I was moved upstairs, I was diagnosed correctly and well taken care of. The one thing that is consistent with this hospital though is that the food sucks! This is the worst hospital food I have ever experienced, and unfortunately, I’ve experienced it several times now.

I recently had a heart cath to put in a Watchman to protect me from blood clots. I’ve had 19 other heart caths before, but this was my 1st one at UTMB. Normally a team of 1 or 2 nurses come in to prep me. But here I had a team of 4 prepping me and another doing my check in procedures. They were all very friendly, told me what they were doing, and they coordinated with each other every well. The cath lab team worked together as well and were always keeping me appraised of what they were doing. Back in my cubicle I was checked on regularly and never left alone very long. My entire one day stay was the best and the best teams anywhere. I’d would always recommend UTMB to any one for their healthcare needs. Definitely a 10 rating. LD Knox

I came here with my daughter and the doctor refused to do a ultrasound. My daughter was in so much pain, crying and screaming. They did give her medicine for that and then sent her home with a diagnosis of gastritis. When she got home she seen on the discharge papers that she has two cysts that they didn't even mention. She ended up going to Methodist hospital where they did the proper steps. My daughter is having a endoscopy today and surgery tomorrow to remove her gallbladder. Thanks to those doctors who actually do their job and don't just try to throw a diagnosis and send the patient home. Oh and on the notes it said that she didn't appear to be in any pain. How could they not see she was in pain? She was crying and screaming when we got there Next time listen to your patient! She went there 2 times within a couple weeks and both times y'all didn't do anything but send her home with a prescription.

Never having a CT scan, I did not know what to expect. There was no wait time and the tech was very professional, making me feel at ease throughout the process. He said I could press a button at any time if I needed to stop. I personally found the scanning process relaxing. Very clean area, quick intake and the process did not last as long as I thought it would. 5 Stars!
