Utmb Health Eye Center

Visited the vision center for a new script on Friday, January 12, 2024! The customer service rep greeted me promptly. I believe her name was Ms Austin. She was very helpful and had full knowledge of their plans. I was a self pay so she was very helpful with getting me what I needed all in one package. I can’t say it was inexpensive because it wasn’t but I think all products for vision care are expensive no matter where you go! Their low cost frames were very limited, however the quality seemed good. New glasses should arrive in approximately 2 weeks. We shall see. All in all it was a good experience.

I do not recommend the UTMB optical center to anyone. I ordered glasses and it took a month to receive. I used to go to another eye clinic for 10+ years and NEVER did it take a month to get your order, maybe a week at most. There was no communication - I had to call every other day to check to see if my glasses had been received and kept getting the same response that they should be in soon and they would call me once they had them. Do you think they called me? NOPE!! Actually while I was there to pick up my glasses, another young lady was there and was experiencing the same issue. She had been waiting 3 weeks and still no glasses - she told me she too had issue with them calling her. I wished her luck because I knew exactly how she felt. I had decided to switch my care to the UTMB eye clinic, but after this recent experience with the optical center (not the eye clinic), I will be going back to my old eye clinic.

Ms. Becky is absolutely wonderful!! My 6 year old daughter needed to pick out her very first pair of glasses and Ms. Becky made the experience a memorable one. She helped my daughter pick out the perfect frames and my daughter loved her. Thank you so much for all your help!! 😁🥰

Don’t go to Dr. Crookston for your eye exams especially if you are going in for an annual exam per your insurance. He will find a way to scam you to pay over $200 for the visit and make up ‘complaints’ you made during the visit to get more money from you and turn it to a sick visit. My insurance did not cover my exam because he changed the visit type form annual exam to office visit. He also took out an eyelash during the exam to see my eye better and charged for that too without informing me of cost or giving me informed consent before doing so. CROOKston is a very adequate name for this doctor. Don’t go here!

They don't answer there phone Tell you 10 to15 and then say it again after 15 minutes.
