All employees every time I visit Niskayuna are so kind, caring, patient and friendly. This visit I worked with Devon. He fixed my issues with my broken glasses, changed them out, adjusted them with much care and professionalism. It always gives me peace when he helps me. Then Ilesha came by to say Hi and showing care as well. I’ve never had a bad experience here for MANY years. Thank You All!

This was my first time there. Your female associate was engaging, helpful and really knew her products. I also received two pairs of prescription glasses for almost $400 less then what I had previously paid for one pair of glasses at my former eye glass place!!! I am thoroughly happy with my first experience with Vision Works and I will absolutely be utilizing them with my future eye care needs!! Thank you Vision Works! I loved everything about my experience with your company!! Joanne Hebert
My experience started with a customer letting me wait before him. I was waited on within minutes by Devon and added to the queue. Not a long wait with 4 before I. My needs were met by that man Devon and then by his fellow worker where she took care of the rest and my glasses will be back on my face by July 29th. Courtesy, satisfaction, trust and care. Efficient service side by side joy, always a pleasure to be with Vision Works. Thanks folks. -Christopher P-
I originally intended on leaving a positive review, as my experience here was good up until the very end. I have worn contacts for 17 years and have never had to pay out of pocket for my annual eye exam. Unfortunately, my long-time eye doctor recently retired, and I urgently needed contacts. My new provider couldn’t get me in until late February, so when I saw Visionworks had quick availability, I decided to give it a try. At no point was I informed that a contact lens exam would cost $80. In fact, when I was being brought to the back, I specifically asked if I would have to pay anything out of pocket and was told no by the person who I later found out was the manager. I was very clear and asked multiple questions about pricing because businesses like this often get you in the chair and then surprise you with a bill afterward. The exam itself went fine. However, when it came time to purchase my contacts, I was suddenly told there was an exam fee that—after insurance—came to $68. I was understandably upset, as had I known this beforehand, I would have waited to go to a private practice. I expressed this to the associate helping me, who was very kind, explained everything thoroughly, and said she would speak with the manager about the misinformation. That conversation is where the experience went from disappointing to unacceptable. The manager, Megan, the same person who told me I would not have to pay out of pocket, came out and immediately took a defensive and confrontational tone, saying, “I definitely told you about the exam fee. It’s not my fault you didn’t hear me.” This was extremely unprofessional, aggressive, and completely inappropriate for a patient-facing role. I work in the medical field, and this is not how you handle patient concerns or complaints. If someone is asking numerous questions about pricing, they are not going to “miss” an $80 exam fee. The interaction showed a complete lack of accountability and training. I would not recommend this location. It is clearly profit-driven, relies on unclear pricing, and the manager’s behavior was rude and dismissive. Transparency and basic professionalism go a long way and unfortunately, this location lacks both.
I would give them zero stars if possible. I made an appointment by phone (a computer program. You can't speak to a human)and had to wait a few weeks before I could get in. The problem was that when I arrived for my appointment, the front receptionist (an older man) told me they canceled my appointment because I never confirmed it. I calmly told him I NEVER received anything from them saying I needed to confirm and could they please fit me in today? He said no as they were behind...I told him this was disappointing because I rearranged my schedule for this appointment. He stepped back, looked disgusted and told me very rudely that I already had said that. He did not apologize for "the system kicking me out" and then he was so rude and dismissive. This man should NOT be the front face of their facility, either. He is completely unprofessional in every way--from the way he speaks to people to the way he presents himself. Slovenly, at best. I will not be going back to Visionworks again. I made an appointment with a competitor and actually got a live person on the phone and an appointment within a couple of days.
