Excellent Service! I had an amazing experience with Brianna, the manager, Aaron the sales representative and the entire team at Visual Health Doctors Optometry in Arlington/Clarendon! They took my Versace sunglasses and turned them into custom prescription glasses exactly the way I wanted. I was extremely impressed by their knowledge, professionalism, and attention to detail. The turnaround time was fantastic, especially since I was leaving for Virginia Beach for the weekend. They got my glasses done quickly without compromising the quality. Thank you, Brianna and Aaron, for going above and beyond! I absolutely love my glasses and highly recommend this team! 👓👏🏽. I also asked Brianna to take a before and after pictures if you are interested in seeing the finished product for their records.

I had such a wonderful experience at this office! I hadn’t been to the eye doctor in almost a decade and I can honestly say that the team here made me feel at ease. They gave me so much knowledge, guidance, customer service and above all, the doctor had amazing bedside manner. The team took the time to explain each test, walked me through my care plan and made sure I understood every step of the process. I never felt rushed, and I really appreciated how patient, knowledgeable, and kind everyone was. Dr. Viviana Varela was absolutely amazing!! She is very kind and has wonderful bedside manner. She genuinely took the time to listen and answer my questions. You can tell she truly cares about her patients and it truly made a difference. I’d definitely recommend to go to her! I’d love to work with her again. I also want to give a special thank you to James, Brianna and Aaron. Everyone was incredibly helpful. Brianna especially went above and beyond. She has great customer service! She explained how the insurance and pricing worked, which made the process feel much easier! I was also introduced to the latest lens features including blue light anti glare glasses! The team made my appointment such a positive experience. I highly recommend coming to this office and working with them!
When I walked in, the woman at the front desk (with black hair, I didn’t catch her name) greeted me with a sigh and was not welcoming. She had an attitude and handed me an iPad with very little instruction, which made the check-in process confusing. On a positive note, the other front desk staff member (a man) was very kind and helpful, and the doctor was also great professional and pleasant throughout the appointment. However, the checkout experience was frustrating. Before my visit, I called and was told my insurance was accepted, with a $50 copay and contact lenses typically ranging from $100–$200 depending on the brand. At checkout, the same staff member quoted me $414 for the eye exam, or $119 with insurance, which was already different from what I had been told. Then she quoted me over $400 for my actual contact lenses, which I have never experienced before. When I questioned the price, she eventually price-matched to around $200, but her attitude remained dismissive and rude.
Went to VHDO in May to get my prescription rechecked and order contacts. Updated contacts arrived by mail to my house six days later. Seemless. Big thanks to the team working that day: Brianna, Sammie, and Jaymes.
I'm extremely disappointed by the unprofessional way I was treated as a new patient. Within 30 hours of my appointment, I was hounded by three calls and five different emails/texts changing my appointment time. The first guy working on 4/21 was friendly. But on 4/22, the woman on the phone was hostile and snapped at me to either "accept the new time or don't show up" and hung up on me without offering any alternatives. If they can't handle a phone call, they shouldn't be trusted anywhere near your eyes.
