I originally left a 1-star review because of a negative experience with one of the technicians. Since then, I’ve had a completely different experience that I feel deserves to be recognized. Dr. Woolfson, Dr. Marsid, John and Kelly have been exceptional. I recently underwent an eye procedure, and they made me feel comfortable, well-informed, and genuinely cared for throughout the entire process. During my recovery, they were supportive, attentive, and always took the time to address my questions and concerns. I’m grateful for the excellent treatment I’ve received.

I recommend Woolfson Eye Institute to anyone who is looking to get vision corrective surgery. The level of professionalism, kindness and quality I’ve experienced from consultation, to surgery, to follow up, blew me away and greatly impressed me. I had PRK done and Dr. Woolfson was informative and answered all my questions and concerns prior to the procedure — I walked in feeling a little anxious and within 20 minutes the staff, Mr. David and Dr. Woolfson’s care made me feel totally comfortable and calm. The follow up care was excellent. The instructions on follow up care are clear and easy to follow. I’m about to go in for my 6 month follow up next week so I can definitively say as long as you’re honest during your initial screening for procedure eligibility, and you follow Dr. Woolfson’s after surgery instructions to the letter (EYE DROPS, PEOPLE!! EYE DROPS!!!) you have very little to worry about. Thank you Dr. Woolfson, Mr. David and the staff at your surgery center — I’m enjoying my 20/10 vision and am grateful for all of you and your excellent care!!
I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience with Dr Steven Leff. During my initial visit, the appointment felt rushed, like an assembly line. Surgery was recommended and presented as quick and straightforward, with minimal discussion of risks. I agreed at the time. Two weeks later I received a notification of a new doctor’s note about my visit. I reviewed the doctor’s chart note and was alarmed to see a lengthy list of surgical risks documented, with a statement that all of these had been discussed with me. That did not happen during my visit. Naturally, this caused anxiety, so I reached out with questions. I was asked to come into the office for clarification. I drove one hour each way, hoping for reassurance and information. Instead, the doctor was condescending, refused to address my questions, repeatedly insisted I “go get a second opinion” (which I clearly stated I did not want), and abruptly left the room. The entire visit lasted less than two minutes. Afterward, I sent a respectful email explaining my experience and reiterating that I only wanted to understand the surgery and post-operative care. The following day, I received a certified letter dismissing me as a patient. Patients should be allowed to ask questions and express concerns without being treated as a problem or dismissed from care. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice.
Initially went in for a LASIK consultation at their Lawrenceville location after being referred by Woodeye Care, told I wasn't a good candidate and instead recommended EVO ICL. It's one of the lesser known eye correction surgeries where instead of a laser, they a cut a flap in your eye and insert a lens. Prior to this, I essentially wore bricks for glasses and could only see an inch in front of me without them. The process took about a month and a half from meeting with my optometrist for an eye exam then the ophthalmologists for consultations and follow-up eye exams and procedures. Dr. Krishma Zaver provided most of my consultations while Dr. Leo Zlotcavitch (Dr. Z) performed the surgery and follow-up check-ins. Between both locations from the front desk to the medical personnel, every staff member has consistently been very friendly and patient. Both doctors made sure to answer any questions I had or concerns before and after surgery, and I never felt like they were pressuring me to choose surgery over not having it. The operation itself was anti-climactic which is good - I was near-fully sedated for most of it as they need you semi-conscious for the EVO ICL procedure. To be honest, I barely remember any of it - I was awake one moment, out the next, remember seeing some brief lights and a slight sensation as they inserted the lens for a few seconds, then was unconscious again for the rest of it. It took about 4 hours from start to finish and most of it was spent waiting in the lobby as they prepared. More than a week later, I've been recovering well and aside from a minor halo effect when looking at lights (a side effect that was discussed during consultations), the better-than-20-20-vision has felt amazing after 20 years of wearing glasses. If you aren't a good LASIK candidate and are worried about the success of other operations like EVO ICL, let my review be a testament arguing for an extremely positive experience. You'll be in good hands with Dr. Z for EVO ICL and it's hard to imagine another institution providing a more streamlined and comfortable experience.
Patient Beware: Experience with Dr. Byron (Trip) Cook @ Woolfson Eye Institute - Atlanta / Sandy Springs I am sharing my cataract surgery experience with Dr. Byron (Trip) Cook , so that it helps other patients in the Georgia / Atlanta / Sandy Springs / Alpharetta / Johns Creek / Suwanee / Cumming / Duluth and other areas in advance. It felt like a transaction rather than patient care. Please be aware. • Communication: Throughout my pre-surgery appointments, Dr. Cook routinely ignored most of my questions and always seemed in a rush to leave the room. • The Vision Outcome: Before the procedures, he consistently assured me that I would only need reading glasses after getting monofocal IOLs in both eyes. Unfortunately, the actual result was entirely different; my distance vision is completely blurred, and I am highly dependent on distance glasses. • The Retina Evaluation Shift: Prior to my surgery visits, Dr. Cook repeatedly stated that he could not test my retina in both eyes because of the cloudy lenses and at the same time, he assured me that he would thoroughly evaluate the retina in both eyes, immediately after the cataracts were removed. • The Follow-Up: To my surprise, during my post-surgery follow-up, when I asked him to check my retinas, he stated, "I’m a cornea specialist. Not a retina specialist. You should visit my colleague Dr. Leff to test your retina," and he left the room before I could ask anything else. By default I selected one star rating. There is no zero rating to select. I give negative -0* ratings.
