I don’t usually leave negative reviews because I know one interaction doesn’t define an entire business. Everyone else I encountered was wonderful. Kaleb, who completed my pre-testing, was friendly and professional. Javy was also very kind, helpful, and explained everything thoroughly, and the manager, Kim, listened to my concerns with genuine compassion and handled the situation exceptionally well. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Gonzales was disappointing. When she asked if I wanted progressive lenses, I told her I didn’t understand what they were and asked her to explain. Instead of answering my question, she simply repeated herself several times. Even after I explained that I was confused, she never took the time to educate me. At the end of the exam, she didn’t ask if I had any questions or explain the next steps. She simply got up and walked out of the room, so I assumed I was supposed to follow her. Patients shouldn’t feel uncomfortable asking questions about their own care. I appreciate the professionalism of Kaleb, Javy, and Kim, they turned an otherwise frustrating experience into one where I at least felt heard.

I took myself and my family in for the first time to this location. Staff at the front counter are friendly, the one that helped us check in appeared to be new and was probably still under training. She needed assistance to get the family checked in. Locating/confirming my insurance created some difficulty even though the entire family is under the same plan. Everyone else had regular eye glasses check ups mine was for contact lense/eye glasses. This made them need to check me in a different room. To be honest the checkup wasn't any different than the regular eye glasses check up and it's twice the cost. Their selection of the lenses are good. Please be aware that although they accept VSP insurance it is out of network and it is not beneficial to purchase contacts or lenses with them. The insurance gives less than half of the allowance for both lenses and frames because it is out of network. The issue came when it was time to pay and check out. Double check their cost on the screen or on your receipt. What they have in their system to calculate the cost of the visit doesn't make sense. They show some "discount" but they don't mean anything. Your visit cost per the insurance company is predetermined by the insurance not because they are applying discounts. The employess was not sure about the reason for the fees being incorrect, called management to look over it and was told this was correct. At the end of it all 1 of my child's check up came up to $69 while the other child and my husband was $30. Same exact exam, same exact procedure/test, same exact insurance. Infact they said the imaging test was free because my child is not 13 years old (This is an additional $20.) All in all 1 child, 1 adult ($10check up+$20 imaging)=$30 for each of them. The other child $69 check up + $0 for imaging. The contact lense exam and the additional $20 for the imaging was $80. It's as if insurance wasn't applied for 1 child. Please read other reviews, I didn't before scheduling the appointment, ask Gemini chat gpt about this company's reputation, they all state the same customer complaint about their fees being incorrect.
Would NEVER recommend this spot - specifically never recommend Amanda Gonzales, O.D. She is not a genuine doctor. I'm an Ophthalmic Surgical Assistant and I was blown away at how rude she was. Zero bedside manner, definitely judgy, talks to you like you're stupid, which is hilarious to watch because I do her exact job and more. She is just overall miserable and has a stick up her rear end. During my exam, I even called an Optometrist I work with because I was so willing to walk out, but I realized I already paid for my exam ahead of time, so I stayed. She didn't give me a trial contact lens, which is odd, given I just got a CTL exam. As for the receptionist Adriana, she is so sweet and welcoming! And Valeria (the assistant I dealt with after the horrible exam) was so so sweet as well. Unfortunately, they tried charging me $20 for imaging that I didn't ask for. When the 1st assistant started them, I asked if the imaging costs extra (which I was told at the America's Best in Compton). She said "no, these are general tests." And I was right, they were extra. I told Valeria it's not her fault & I'll go ahead and pay. They should def let pts know this ahead of time though. Anyway, DO NOT GO TO THIS LOCATION!
In the past, this location has given me my frustrations but this store is now under new management and you can definitely tell. Diana was absolutely fantastic. She was patient, kind, attentive, and very helpful during the visit. Nika was also very welcoming and sweet. If you're on the fence, and need quality assistance regarding your vision give this location a try, and you can't go wrong asking for Diana. She's awesome.
After a small misunderstanding, and as an unhappy customer, I was determined never to return to this location. However, Juan took accountability and made things right. No matter how the experience started, the way it ended exceeded all of my expectations. Juan went above and beyond to make sure I felt heard, respected, and truly valued as a customer. This is exactly how customer service should be handled. Turning a negative experience into a positive one takes genuine care, and Juan did just that. They have earned a customer for life! Juan and I are BFFs now! 😊 Thank you so much for taking such great care of me. Your professionalism and commitment to making things right did not go unnoticed.
