I’ve had a disappointing experience at Costco Antioch. The employees often come across as unfriendly and unwelcoming, and it honestly feels like many of them don’t want to be there or don’t enjoy working there. I understand that working in a busy warehouse can be stressful, but basic friendliness and customer service should still be expected. Compared with other Costco locations I’ve visited, the atmosphere at the Antioch location feels noticeably different. Hopefully management can address this because Costco is usually known for good customer service, and this location could definitely improve in that area.

This location always seems on top of inventory. Often I go and I find open pallets with no merchandise at my local location and then asking feels a lil awkward and I have gotten the proverbial well if you dont see it its gone.. only to find a pallet on a second shelf in an aisle. But this location has very nice staff as well! After my kid dropped a soft serve ice cream an employee replaced it and was very understanding that kids drop things.
Way less crowded since the Brentwood store opened!! (Way less rude ppl shoving their carts into you since that Brentwood store opened too- hallelujah good riddance!!) At this costco, You can tell when there's tension between the cashiers cus they make snarky comments under their breath & won't help their colleagues with an access code or w/e, so then you're sat there waiting, just standing in checkout for their "drama" to settle before the key code can be entered & then you can finally pay & get out. They change the layout so often that half the time i leave stuff off my list cus I'm not tryna search a whole warehouse for stuff with all my kids just wanting to be done & get home. Every other costco I've been to is "better" in all aspects; costumer service, product availability, wait times, etc. But this is my costco & the other shoppers are usually kind & curious- it may be "rough" but it's good for us❤️
Update: Costco Optical - To be seen you need to make an appointment. I really liked the optometrist, she was really nice. My appointment took maybe about 30 minutes. It’s helpful if you have a record with them it goes faster. I mainly came to get prescriptions for contact but she gives you both for glasses and contacts. They take insurance. But if you don’t have one, it’s very affordable. And you can order your glasses and contacts here as well. —————— It’s so funny how when a lady asked me to apply for an executive club membership, I said “no” because I don’t come here that often. I’ve been coming here a lot more and more than what I said to the lady when I first applied for membership years ago. I really love that there is a Costco close to me. This Costco has great selection of items and I always get what I need. The one con about going to Costco is everything is big. What I mean is if I need just a carton of milk it comes in a pack of three. But the price is right. Costco always has great holiday items. Costumer service is ok. I rarely need to ask for help. Unless I go to Optical or their foodcourt area and then when you check out. That’s the only real reaction with employees at Costco.
This Costco has excellent lighting inside the store. It makes me want to stay longer than I normally would. It is super well managed in terms of displays. I have actually seen a few times when the General Manager and her other managers would pitch in to help keep the shelves, display shelves….etc in neat conditions. Oh! their “all hands on deck “ policy help to move us quickly at checkout so that all the other members and I never have to wait for a long time. I have been to almost every Costco locations in the Bay Area plus the ones in Sacramento too. I would rank it as number 2 in terms of all the things I mentioned above plus the cleanliness of the store. If you must know, the first is the Business Center in South San Francisco. But that was when they first opened. I have not revisited since then. One last thing about shopping and parking at Costco - I find it to be the safest place to park and shop. Their newly remodeled optical center in the store makes you feel like you are actually at a store. Kudos to the team at this store. This will be my 22nd year as an Executive member of Costco. April 18,2025 I was there this week and noticed that they are now carrying a lot of new Latino/Hispanic food items such as hominy, horchata, 2 types of dried chiles, corn husks, Maseca, tres leches pudding(flan), pupusa, tamales, cheeses for quesadillas, tacos, enchiladas…..and many more. It makes sense since more than 40% of the residents in Antioch, Pittsburg and Bay Point are Spanish speakers.
