Since this place changed hands, it hasn’t been as good as it once was, not for me anyway. Under Tad, the work was always well done. After he retired last year, and Amber took over there has been one mishap after another. Two stand out. I had to get some glasses remade in November of 2024, and that turned into a 2 month long fiasco, requiring numerous redo’s and tweakings involving their lab and the frame company’s representative. The most recent snafu occurred within the last month. Amber was merely asked to make two pairs of lenses this time for me (one sunglasses, one regular). I provided the frames. After more than two weeks, she tells me we have to redo because the lab reversed them. What the heck is going on at their lab in San Antonio anyway?! My bad though for returning after the November debacle. I told Amber this time not to bother remaking, that I was going to a competitor, which I ended up doing. This place has a nice selection of high end frames and a good vibe, and I enjoyed working with Amber when things were going well, but after this latest screw-up, I’m done. This place also does not provide a description of what you are purchasing which I don’t like. I like to know what I’m buying and what I’m being charged for. Recently as a result, I had to call Amber to ask about something that should have been in my own personal records. Because they sell quality products, I may return at some point to purchase a pair of frames from DM, but I will have the glasses made elsewhere. PS to above review. I had a competitor remake a pair (that I also asked Amber to handle for me, see above) and in so doing got re-measured on lenses I wanted made into regular glasses, from sunglasses. When I asked Amber to do this, she said she didn’t need me to leave the frames - and she did NOT measure me for proper channeling in the new frames - even tho I asked her about that. She said she didn’t need to do that as it was already done with the sun glasses - even tho sunglasses are made differently than regular lenses. I seriously wonder how skilled Amber is. Good grief.

This place is fantastic! I’ve been looking for an optometrist that isn’t owned by private equity, and I hit the jackpot with Dietz-McLean. They are family owned, and you can tell right away by the kindness and attention shown by Amber, who helped me today. I find a lot of people who work in retail/ customer forward jobs these days just don’t seem to care about the people they’re supposed to be helping, but Amber was the real deal. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and considerate, which automatically made me want to buy glasses from her. They have a fantastic selection of frames, and even work with a frame company in Florida, which hand-makes every frame for a reasonable price. I feel so lucky to have found this place. Highly recommend!

I ordered lens to match a new prescription. The Lens grinder took a few more days than Dietz anticipated but produced a perfect fit for my old frames and prescription. I'm very satisfied with Dietz-McLean's service.

I liked the selection and the one on one care plus how they take the time to Measure your face and eyes to make sure the lenses and frame have a proper fit it was expensive but it’s expensive to be a man.
