It has been a couple weeks since I made the very difficult decision to place my loved one in a nursing home. This was not an easy decision for me, but I knew she needed a level of care that I could no longer provide on my own. My loved one initially called Canterbury and spoke with Ms. Brown about taking a tour. She told me that Ms. Brown was informative, vibrant, and made her feel very comfortable. When I called and spoke with Ms. Brown myself, I immediately understood why my loved one felt that way. From the very beginning, Ms. Brown helped ease my anxiety and made me feel more comfortable with the decision I was facing. She took the time to explain different options and shared information about resources and places that could assist me on this journey. When I got off the phone, I felt relieved, informed, and much less stressed. The next day, I called Ms. Brown back and rescheduled our tour for an earlier date. When I met her in person, she again gave me such positive and welcoming energy. Ms. Desiree also took the time to meet with my loved one and me. She was extremely informative, patient, and thorough. She answered all of our questions and made sure we understood what Canterbury had to offer. We were very pleased with what we saw and decided that Canterbury was at the top of our list. We visited and compared several other facilities and their staff, but Canterbury stood out to us. The compassion, professionalism, and welcoming atmosphere made a real difference during a very emotional time for our family. I would sincerely like to thank Ms. Brown and Ms. Desiree for their kindness, support, patience, and for making us feel so comfortable throughout this process. Even now, if I have questions or concerns, I can reach out to Ms. Brown, and she continues to be responsive and helpful. Making the decision to place someone you love in a nursing home is never easy. Having people who listen, provide guidance, and treat you with compassion can make an overwhelming experience a little easier. Thank you, Ms. Brown and Ms. Desiree, for helping us through this important transition. We truly appreciate you!

This is one of the best facilities I've seen around Richmond. The people are caring and work with patients. My family member is in the Tuckahoe unit and everyone is friendly and makes an effort to get to know not only him, but the family, too. Sonya, Tamia and Dustin have been wonderful and really show how much they care about him. We feel very lucky with the care he receives as well as the positive energy.
I would like to thank Ms.Sonya in Activities for helping me throughout the night with my aunt Q. Webb she was very helpful. Willing to lend the extra hand and to even guide to find things for my aunt. Nothing was prepared for my aunt upon arrival. We were walking in the blind until Ms. Sonya helped us. I greatly appreciate her she made us feel at ease when we were walking into a broken promise. Then, they said they didn’t even know she was coming but everyone else knew she was coming expect for the admissions department apparently but they did the paperwork, my family doesn’t appreciate the disrespect it was like a slap in the hand honestly. But, thank you thank you Ms. Sonya I thank you and appreciate you. You’re a blessing to my family. Thank you.
My Dad recently took a fall and broke 3 bones in his neck. The staff at Canterbury Rehab did a terrific job of getting him back on his feet and taught him the skills to be able to move back to his normal assisted living home. The staff were caring, professional and made sure my Dad was safe and well cared for as he was recovering. Some folks that especially helped our family are Paris, Brook & Nina. All of the staff were caring but these folks went out of their way to assure that my Dad, and my family were cared for and supported. I hope my parents never need rehab care again but if they do, I will ask Canterbury to help us again.
The Canterbury Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center is an awesome place for long term and short term care. My family is there long term and I’ve found it to be great! The staff is very courteous and kind to the residents. The residents love the staff. Everyone is treated like family. I’m very impressed with the care and love that my family has been shown since being admitted there. If a problem does arise, the staff ensure that it is addressed immediately. I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking to place their loved one.
