I’ve been taking my boys here since my 9-year-old was in kindergarten. The location itself isn’t great and the office interior could definitely use some updating/cleaning, but for years the staff made up for it. They’ve always been kind, patient, and wonderful with my kids. Unfortunately, the communication and scheduling process has become incredibly frustrating, which is why I’m leaving a lower review. A few months ago, I started receiving repeated back-to-back phone calls, sometimes daily, simply to schedule appointments that were already pre-scheduled. I work full-time and cannot answer constant calls during the day. If you leave a voicemail, I will absolutely return the call when I’m available. There was no reason for repeated calls when the appointments were already in the system. Most recently, I received text confirmations on May 5th for all 3 of my children’s appointments scheduled for tomorrow, which I confirmed. Then today, the day before the appointments, I received multiple calls and voicemails while at work regarding an “insurance question.” When I finally returned the call on my lunch break, I was told they accept Tricare at the office, but the doctor assigned to my children does not currently accept it yet and is “working on it.” This should have been caught long before the day before the appointments, especially after they were already confirmed. I had already rearranged my work schedule and my kids’ schedules to make these appointments happen. At that point, I declined rescheduling and instead booked with Target Optical. It’s disappointing because the staff themselves have always been lovely, but the scheduling and insurance coordination process has become far too disorganized.

I had an amazing appointment! My eyes feel 10x better whenever I visit and after I leave. They always help me make my vision better including they help me fix my glasses too. I want to shout out Amahi and Cnstal they both really help me make my appointment go smooth and complete. They are so nice and sweet too including have nice conversations with me. Very friendly too the Academy Kids on Fountain is my favorite Academy Kids. I highly recommend the Fountain Academy Kids location. Very friendly staff, helpful, nice, caring and great service!!!
I had a great experience The staff was welcoming and professional, and they made the whole process smooth and comfortable. The doctor was thorough, explained everything clearly, and took the time to answer my questions. The office was clean and well-organized, and I didn’t have a long wait. I’d definitely recommend them
I stopped taking my children to this eye doctor some time ago and have deliberately ignored their repeated calls trying to book new appointments. Recently they left a voicemail “confirming” an appointment for one of my kids. When I called back and asked why an appointment existed when I never made one, they admitted they had automatically scheduled it themselves simply because that child had been seen there last year. I don’t think a medical office has any business creating appointments for children without the parent’s knowledge, request, or consent. It’s especially odd and makes no sense that two of my other kids have also received care there, yet they only automatically scheduled an appointment for one child. Why single out just one? Their system is clearly inconsistent and presumptuous. I had already made it clear by ignoring their calls that we were no longer patients, yet they still took it upon themselves to book a slot on their calendar. When I told them there shouldn’t even be an appointment and to cancel it, I was shocked at how casually they treated something that should never have happened in the first place. As the parent, only I decide when and where my children receive care. This pushy, illogical practice shows a complete lack of respect for patient autonomy and basic common sense. I will never return and strongly advise other parents to think twice before using this office if you expect to be asked before they schedule anything for your family.
We had to find a new eye doctor for our daughters and I have really enjoyed Academy Kids Vision so far. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable. My girls aren't afraid of going to the eye doctor now and that's a big deal to me. I will be continuing to take my kiddos here.
