Family First Eye Care

A big issue I had as a former optometrist technician was the optomap scan. I asked if I could opt out of that and the nice receptionist (she really was very nice), told me that was their doctor’s standard for exams. It’s an optional test and not necessary for people who aren’t prone to eye diseases/don’t have serious vision problems. Also, insurance doesn’t cover it because it is considered an optional test. While the doctor is welcome to require it, I would not have made an appointment had I known. I don’t like sticking my head in machines/against them, it induced tears and an internal panic attack that kind of ruined the experience for me. I didn’t even want to try on frames afterwards. Besides that , the exam was good, Dr. Huntting and his staff were very nice. The space was clean and inviting. It may not be a big deal for some people, but it was for me.

Had a great check up today! Amazing family-owned practice that is super friendly and accommodating. I was initially evaluated at a different commercial/retail office but was unhappy with the whole exam so I came here for a second opinion. Dr. Huntting was very attentive and validated my concerns. They even offered a great cash pay price as I was not able to use my insurance today. Another great perk is the online scheduling feature. So happy with my visit and am relieved that my search for a good optometrist is over.

I had a great experience at Family First Eye Care! I called in for an eye exam, and they were able to fit me in quickly, which was a relief. They also accept my insurance, Hometown Health, making everything super convenient. Vanessa at the front desk was incredibly friendly and had such great energy. She was really helpful in guiding me to pick out frames, even though I can be a bit picky. Dr. Macco made me feel very comfortable during the exam and explained everything clearly. Overall, I highly recommend Family First Eye Care to everyone!

Dr. Macco is seriously one of the best people I’ve ever met, and it shows in how she takes care of her patients. I was able to get an appointment for my annual eye exam super quickly, and they even took my insurance—which is usually a hassle since I have school insurance. She takes the time to explain everything thoroughly, making sure I understand my options for contact lenses. Plus, she lets me try them out before I have to commit, which is so helpful! Her staff is just as amazing—they make everything easy and are super flexible with communication. I love that I can call their office without long wait times, but I can also text them and get the same level of service. On top of all that, her clinic is beautiful! You can tell they put a lot of effort into making it a welcoming space. Overall, just an awesome experience. 10/10, highly recommend :)

Best optometrist in Reno! Dr. Macco is phenomenal, she explains everything so well and is so kind. Lena is an amazing tech, so efficient and also explained everything so well. Vanessa helped me pick out some super cute frames (the frame selection is so good I honestly wanted everything) and she was able to do my lenses same day which is so convenient!! Overall, I can confidently say it was the best experience I’ve ever had with an optometry office in town, you can tell that everyone truly loves the work that they do and cares about every patient that walks in the door. I want to give them 100 stars!
